Two teams with dif­fer­ent sta­tus­es in the Cham­pi­onship Di­vi­sion of the Courts All Sec­tors Net­ball League–the Uni­ver­si­ty of T&T (UTT) and the Re­boot Tigers–squared off in an ex­pect­ed "David vs Go­liath" clash. How­ev­er, the fi­nal re­sult told a clos­er sto­ry.

​UTT, sea­soned cam­paign­ers and last year’s di­vi­sion run­ners-up, wAS ex­pect­ed to se­cure an easy vic­to­ry against the rel­a­tive new­com­ers. In­stead, the UTT women nar­row­ly es­caped with a two-goal tri­umph, win­ning 33-31 as ac­tion re­sumed af­ter the Car­ni­val break at the East­ern Re­gion­al In­door Sports Are­na in Tacarigua on Thurs­day evening.

Goal-shoot­er Saman­tha Greene with 19 goals from 30 tries, and goal-at­tack Er­i­ca Job (12/20) for the Re­boot Tigers were slight­ly more pro­lif­ic at the cir­cle, but it earned them just the lead in the first and third quar­ters, 6-4 and 23-19, re­spec­tive­ly. The UTT women used more fire­pow­er in their at­tack, with the quar­tet of Adri­an­na Moreno, Tene­cia Goodridge, Jil­lisa Brig­gs, and Oni­ka Thomas com­bin­ing to cap­ture the win.

Moreno post­ed a record of six from 16, and Brig­gs 16 from 27, while Thomas, who played the role of goal at­tack, drained 11 from 17 at­tempts in a game that fluc­tu­at­ed for the most part be­fore it end­ed in their favour.

​In the evening's oth­er match, Bermudez, third-place fin­ish­ers in 2025, proved they are still a force to be mis­in­ter­pret­ed even with­out reign­ing "Most Valu­able Play­er" (MVP) Nekeisha Gomes. They de­liv­ered a con­vinc­ing 44–24 vic­to­ry over the Uni­ver­si­ty of the South­ern Caribbean (USC).

In stark con­trast to the UTT/Re­boot Tigers thriller, the Bermudez women dom­i­nat­ed the pro­ceed­ings. Rid­ing on the backs of near-per­fect 30 from 40 tries from Jo­ce­lyn Mar­celle, six from eight from Za­kiya McKen­na-El­lias, and eight from 18 from Crys­tal Jones, Bermudez dom­i­nance showed clear­ly as 9-5 in quar­ter one, 21-9 in the sec­ond, and 31-17 in the third ses­sion.

USC’s re­sis­tance was led by Gel­lana Grant (10/26), Ki­mo­la McMil­lan (10/19), and An­geli­na McKen­zie (4/6). The ac­tion con­tin­ues to­day.
