Garvin War­wick, im­me­di­ate past pres­i­dent of the Na­tion­al Bas­ket­ball Fed­er­a­tion of T&T (NBFTT), is one of three per­sons con­test­ing the po­si­tion of vice pres­i­dent of Fi­nance and Mar­ket­ing at the up­com­ing Caribbean Bas­ket­ball Con­fed­er­a­tion (CBC) elec­toral as­sem­bly on Feb­ru­ary 9 in San­to Domin­go, Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic.

The oth­er two nom­i­nees for the po­si­tion are Dar­ryl Matthews of An­tigua, who is cur­rent­ly hold­ing the po­si­tion of CBC trea­sur­er and Leslie Col­ly­more, pres­i­dent of the St Lu­cia Fed­er­a­tion. Matthews is al­so con­test­ing one of the two "Mem­ber at Large" po­si­tions.

War­wick was vot­ed to join NBFTT pres­i­dent Claire Mitchell as the oth­er T&T del­e­gate at the as­sem­bly.

“Garvin is well suit­ed for this po­si­tion as he has al­ways sup­port­ed the de­vel­op­ment of bas­ket­ball, is pas­sion­ate about mar­ket­ing both the play­ers and the sport and has nev­er been a fig­ure­head in any po­si­tion. He con­tin­u­ous­ly dis­plays pas­sion with a Pur­pose!”

War­wick is a Mar­ket­ing en­tre­pre­neur, who spe­cial­izes in Dig­i­tal Me­dia Mar­ket­ing and Ad­ver­tis­ing. He worked with the Telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions Com­pa­ny of T&T for 17 years hold­ing dif­fer­ent port­fo­lios, his last be­ing man­ag­er of Events and Spon­sor­ship. Since then he has fo­cused on his own busi­ness, Tail­wind Ltd, with one sim­ple goal in mind, to use cre­ativ­i­ty to solve busi­ness chal­lenges. The com­pa­ny spe­cialis­es in event, dig­i­tal and so­cial me­dia man­age­ment.

One of War­wick’s ma­jor achieve­ments would be man­ag­ing the full dig­i­tal cam­paign for the 2016 Olympics for the Caribbean through CANOC Broad­cast­ing Inc, which in­clud­ed the pro­duc­tion of the tele­vi­sion ad and all pro­mo­tion­al videos via so­cial me­dia plat­forms. He led a team whose pur­pose was to stim­u­late Caribbean-wide par­tic­i­pa­tion in the Rio 2016 Olympics. A cre­ative strat­e­gy was de­signed to in­form ed­u­cate and in­spire fans and cre­at­ed an ed­i­to­r­i­al cal­en­dar to spark con­ver­sa­tions across Face­book, Twit­ter and In­sta­gram.

He re­cent­ly spear­head­ed the launch of the Ul­ti­mate In­door Fa­cil­i­ty a unique in­door fa­cil­i­ty in the field of crick­et.
