The Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs (MSYA), led by Minister Phillip Watts, and the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SporTT), led by newly appointed chairman Kester Lendore, hosted the officials of the National Governing Bodies (NGB) at the VIP Lounge at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, on Saturday.
The theme of the gathering was Advancing the Cause of Sport Development.
Representatives from 53 NGBs participate in direct dialogue on their challenges faced on a daily basis and to determine the pathway forward for sport in Trinidad and Tobago.️
The NGBs were also encouraged to work towards financial literacy & accountability and advised of the benefits of compliance with reporting to their organisation.
The Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, the Honourable Watts, and SporTT chairman Lendore were the feature speakers, alongside the Director of Physical Education & Sport at MSYA, Gabre-Jesu McTair, and the Head of Sport Development at SporTT, Justin Latapy-George.
Also present for the meeting were newly appointed T&T’s Sports Ambassadors – 2012 Olympic Games javelin gold medallist Keshorn Walcott and champion cricketers Nicholas Pooran, Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard, all of whom shared insights from their experiences as professional athletes representing T&T and the West Indies on the global stage.
