The Min­istry of Sport and Youth Af­fairs (MSYA), led by Min­is­ter Phillip Watts, and the Sports Com­pa­ny of Trinidad and To­ba­go (SporTT), led by new­ly ap­point­ed chair­man Kester Lendore, host­ed the of­fi­cials of the Na­tion­al Gov­ern­ing Bod­ies (NGB) at the VIP Lounge at the Hase­ly Craw­ford Sta­di­um, Mu­cu­rapo, on Sat­ur­day.

The theme of the gath­er­ing was Ad­vanc­ing the Cause of Sport De­vel­op­ment.

Rep­re­sen­ta­tives from 53 NG­Bs par­tic­i­pate in di­rect di­a­logue on their chal­lenges faced on a dai­ly ba­sis and to de­ter­mine the path­way for­ward for sport in Trinidad and To­ba­go.️

The NG­Bs were al­so en­cour­aged to work to­wards fi­nan­cial lit­er­a­cy & ac­count­abil­i­ty and ad­vised of the ben­e­fits of com­pli­ance with re­port­ing to their or­gan­i­sa­tion.

The Min­is­ter of Sport and Youth Af­fairs, the Ho­n­ourable Watts, and SporTT chair­man Lendore were the fea­ture speak­ers, along­side the Di­rec­tor of Phys­i­cal Ed­u­ca­tion & Sport at MSYA, Gabre-Je­su Mc­Tair, and the Head of Sport De­vel­op­ment at SporTT, Justin Lat­apy-George.

Al­so present for the meet­ing were new­ly ap­point­ed T&T’s Sports Am­bas­sadors – 2012 Olympic Games javelin gold medal­list Keshorn Wal­cott and cham­pi­on crick­eters Nicholas Pooran, Dwayne Bra­vo and Kieron Pol­lard, all of whom shared in­sights from their ex­pe­ri­ences as pro­fes­sion­al ath­letes rep­re­sent­ing T&T and the West In­dies on the glob­al stage.
