A nine-mem­ber squad from T&T will join with 1500 youth ath­letes from around the world as the sixth IAAF World Youth Cham­pi­onships get un­der­way Bres­sanone, Italy to­day. The team which is dom­i­nat­ed by sprint­ers will be lead by Gabriela Cum­ber­batch, the Un­der-18 dou­ble sprint cham­pi­on at last month's Na­tion­al Cham­pi­onships.

Air Bon Son­ics sprint­er Kai Selvon, 17, who placed a close sec­ond to Cum­ber­batch in the fi­nal clock­ing 11.88 is al­so on the team. The top three fin­ish­ers in the Boy's Un­der-18, 100m fi­nal Mori­ba Morain (Sim­plex), Jamol James (Mem­phis) and Johnathan Hold­er will al­so com­pete, along with Boy's Un­der 18 400m cham­pi­on De­on Lendore and the run­ner up in the event Bran­don Ben­jamin.

Triple jumper El­ton Wal­cott and Javelin Throw­er Keshorn Wal­cott will al­so be in com­pe­ti­tion over the next few days. Yes­ter­day the T&T team took part in the IAAF World Youth Mas­ter­class in S�dtirol, Italy which in­clud­ed mo­ti­va­tion­al speech­es from six IAAF Am­bas­sadors, an An­ti Dop­ing Work­shop and warm up ses­sions with some of the sport's all-time great­est ath­letes.
