The two-day inaugural Pearl and Bunty Lara Age Group Table Tennis Tournament hosted by the T&T Table Tennis Association (T&TTTA) will serve off today at the Jean Pierre Sports Complex, Mucurapo from 9 am before ending at the same venue tomorrow.
The top junior players in T&T will battle for top honours in seven different age-groups among the singles competition as well as two doubles categories. These categories include the Boy's and Girl's Under-ten; Under-13; Under-15; Under-18 and Under-21 singles, the Under-13 and Under-15 Novice Singles and the Under-15 and Under-21 Mixed Doubles competitions.
First into action after the opening ceremony will be the Under-ten boys and girls spearheaded by Powergen's Danielle Dick and Nalini Boodoo in the girls' and Carenage Blasters Marc Pillai among the boy's. A fierce battle is expected in the Under-21 mixed doubles with the pairs of Kenwin Small and Ashley Quashie, and Kwame Rodriguez and Ambica Sitram battling against UTT's Kris Frank and Avernelle Abraham, and Kristen Scipio and Terrel Abbott.
The Under-15 boys will feature Meshach Pillai and Orell Cooper as well as the Roopnarine brothers, Vimal and Arun Roopnarine, Vicente Denoon and Aaron Wilson, while the Under-15 girls will see national senior team player Catherine Spicer among the title contenders. In the Under-21 singles competition, Carenage Blasters' Kenwin Small and Kwame Rodriguez will battle for top honours with the UTT quintet.
