Noel Williams and Marvin Oliver scored two goals each as title-holder Clico San Juan Jabloteh hammered Defence Force (Super League) 5-0 in its Toyota Classic round-of-16 clash at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar on Saturday night. With the win, Jabloteh which defeated St Ann's Rangers 2-1 in last year's final joined previous winner, bmobile Joe Public (2007), United Petrotrin (2006) and W Connection (2005) which all won on Friday night, in the quarterfinals which takes place tomorrow.
Also through to the last eight are Ma Pau, Rangers and Defence Force (Pro League) which trounced Super League runner-up T&TEC 3-0 in Saturday's second match at Malabar. Last night, Super League clubs, 1976 Angostura Phoenix and M&M Harvard faced off in the final round-of-16 encounter at Malabar. In tomorrow's quarterfinal round, Jabloteh plays Petrotrin; Rangers face Phoenix/Harvard; Defence Force (Pro League) squares off with Joe Public in a rematch of the First Citizens Cup final and W Connection tangles with Ma Pau.
At Malabar, utility player Williams scored in the 16th and 67th minutes, Oliver in the 58th and 72nd before player/assistant coach Travis Mulraine completed the scoring in the 79th minute. In the second match, Defence Force Pro League outfit got a goal each from Sean Narcis (18th), Jerwyn Balthazar (25th) and Kevon Carter (33rd) to shut out T&TEC.
