The staff of the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) recently had their Christmas fund-raising dinner in fine style at the San Fernando Technical Institute. Everyone swayed the night away to the sounds of National Quarries Soca Sabor, as they went through several different genres of music including parang, soca and reggae. UTT lecturer Rolly Dominic Hosein said, "The food was great and the music was excellent. Management was there, the rest of the staff was there and everyone had a great time.
All proceeds from the event went to the Student Assistance Fund. This fund, which was spearheaded by lecturer Arlene Smith, supplies students with additional financial assistance to those who need it." He added that, "We will be having other fund-raising ventures for the student fund, one of which is scheduled for Carnival. We want to have events that promote the different cultures and traditions of Trinidad and Tobago and this event we had is just a taste of what's to come."
