Soca Warriors and bmobile Joe Public striker, Kerry Baptiste left here yesterday on a one-week trial at Coca-Cola English Division One club Ipswich Town where he hopes to join countryman Carlos Edwards on a permanent basis.
The 29-year-old Baptiste, winner of the 2009 T&T Olympic Committee 'Sports Personality of the Year" award and favourite for the Digicel T&T Pro League and T&T Football Federation 'Player of the Year" awards was due to leave last month but had his trail stint pushed back due to the heavy snow fall in England during that time.
Speaking prior to his departure from Piarco International Airport, Baptiste, scorer of 48 goals in the domestic season last season which helped bmobile Joe Public to a historic five titles said, "It's been 11 years now I've been waiting for an opportunity like this and I intend to make the most of it."
