Former West Indies Under-15 captain, Stephen Katwaroo, and fellow opener Zahkiree Ragoonath, scored unbeaten half centuries as Iere High School upset two-time defending champion Presentation College by ten wickets in their PowerGen Secondary Schools Inter-col match at Powergen ground, Iere, yesterday. Set a victory target of 140, The home team got to 142 in 26 overs with Katwaroo (70) which included five fours and a six, and Ragoonath (63), with nine fours, putting the Presentation bowlers to the blade.
The defending champion got to 140-9 off its allotted 30 overs, with Kieron Joseph (41), Derone Davis (33) and West Indies Under 19 vice-captain Yannick Ottley 25. Dennie Nanelal (3-16) was the pick of the Iere bowlers. Iere will meet San Fernando Central in quarterfinal action on Tuesday April 20 at home. Over at Clarke Road, Idrees Mohammed scored a century to help Hillview College earn a 128-run victory over Naparima.
Hillview amassed 238-4, with Mohammed (107) including eight fours and four sixes, while Isaiah Rajah made 57. Rajiv Maharaj (3-51) was the best bowler for the home team. In reply Naparima could only muster 110-9 off its 30 overs, with Kyron Ghisiawn (45) and Maharaj (16). Anthony Simmons (3-15), Rajiv Singh (2-22) and Anthonio Alleyne (2-23) were the main bowlers. Hillview will take on last year's beaten finalist Princes Town in their quarterfinal match after the latter humbled St Augustine by 195 runs.
