A re­cent chop­ping in­ci­dent is what po­lice be­lieve may have led to the shoot­ing death of an 18-year-old man on Tues­day night. In­ves­ti­ga­tors said Bran­don Di­az was killed af­ter he was re­port­ed­ly ac­cused of chop­ping a man on the face.

The man, po­lice said, re­mained hos­pi­talised up to late yes­ter­day.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said around 9.15 pm, Di­az was stand­ing in the front yard of his home at the East­ern Main Road, Tacarigua.

Two men walked up to him af­ter which one of them pulled out a firearm and shot Di­az in the stom­ach. He was rushed to the Ari­ma Health Cen­tre where he was pro­nounced dead on ar­rival. (GK)
