Four dif­fer­ent play­ers were on tar­get as Cale­do­nia AIA kicked off its 2010/2011 Dig­i­cel T&T Pro League sea­son with a 4-2 whip­ping of St Ann's Rangers in the fea­ture match of a dou­ble-head­er at the Hase­ly Craw­ford Sta­di­um, Mu­cu­rapo on Sat­ur­day night. Ear­li­er, De­fence Force got a brace from De­von Jorsling and one from strike part­ner, Kevon Carter in a 3-0 shut-out of Po­lice. Rangers start­ed well against Cale­do­nia and af­ter forc­ing Ja­maican goal­keep­er Kevin Gra­ham in­to two saves to de­ny Josi­mar Bel­grave as ear­ly as the third minute and Odelle Arm­strong in the 24th, they de­served­ly took the lead in the 29th minute. A for­mer Cale­do­nia and De­fence Force strik­er, Arm­strong was on spot to head past goal­keep­er Gra­ham af­ter team-mate, Beville Joseph head­ed a cor­ner back in­to his path.

Cale­do­nia drew lev­el with­in sev­en min­utes when Guyanese mid­field­er Shawn Beveney com­plet­ed a so­lo run down the left flank with a low left foot­er that whis­tled past Rangers' cus­to­di­an Dau­rance Williams on his near post. Three min­utes lat­er, Cale­do­nia went 2-1 ahead when Daniel Cyrus met Sher­ron Joseph's cross from the right with a half vol­ley which gave Williams no chance. On the re­sump­tion, Cale­do­nia al­most went fur­ther ahead when Cyrus hit the cross­bar from out­side the area. But on the hour mark, Cale­do­nia did add to its tal­ly through the tricky Sher­ron Joseph who fooled the en­tire Rangers de­fence, send­ing them one di­rec­tion with a right foot fake, be­fore rolling the ball over to his stronger left foot and blast­ing his ef­fort past Williams for a 3-1 cush­ion.

New sign­ing Hay­den Vin­cent, who came on as re­place­ment for Ryan Stew­art then put the re­sult be­yond doubt in the 72nd minute when he used his pace to get to a long pass by Den­sill Theobald be­fore beat­ing Williams. Eight min­utes from full-time, Bel­grave got a sec­ond goal for Rangers when his right foot­er went in off the un­der­side of the cross­bar. With the win, Cale­do­nia joined W Con­nec­tion, North East Stars and De­fence Force at the top of the ta­ble with three points while de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons, bmo­bile Joe Pub­lic and Ma Pau have a point each.
