Stand-in skip­per Trent Noel fired in a sec­ond-half brace as de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons, bmo­bile blanked FC South End 2-0 for a much need­ed vic­to­ry in the Dig­i­cel Pro League at the Man­nie Ramjohn Sta­di­um, Mara­bel­la on Sat­ur­day night. Af­ter a 0-0 first 45 min­utes, Noel opened the scor­ing in the 61st minute be­fore he added an­oth­er one minute from the end of reg­u­la­tion time to ease the pres­sure on un­der fire coach Derek King. The win was on­ly the sec­ond of the sea­son from sev­en league out­ings for the East­ern Li­ons, and comes af­ter a 3-1 home de­feat to leader De­fence Force.

De­spite the win, Joe Pub­lic is still fourth on the ta­ble with 10 points, one be­hind W Con­nec­tion who blast­ed Po­lice 4-0 in the sec­ond match at Mara­bel­la. For W Con­nec­tion, An­drei Pacheco (18th), Hughton Hec­tor (27th), Ed­er Gilmar Arias (60th) and Te­ba Mc Knight (90th) were all on tar­get as they re­bound­ed from a 2-1 loss to joint fourth placed club, Di­recTV North East Stars. Over at the Dwight Yorke Sta­di­um, Ba­co­let, host club To­ba­go Unit­ed used sec­ond-half strikes from Raoul Chap­man, Ja­mal Spencer and in­form Kevon Wood­ley to blank St Ann's Rangers 3-0.

The vic­to­ry was the sec­ond-in-a-row for To­ba­go, now sev­enth on the stand­ings with sev­en points, one more than Rangers and South End. On Fri­day night at the Hase­ly Craw­ford Sta­di­um, Mu­cu­rapo, ten-men De­fence Force edged Ma Pau 2-1 for its sixth straight win to start the sea­son. The "Teteron Boys", en­joy­ing their best start to a lo­cal sea­son ever now have max­i­mum 18 points, six clear of Ma Pau, who tast­ed its first loss in sev­en match­es.
