?Op­po­si­tion Leader Dr Kei­th Row­ley is dis­miss­ing the opin­ions of four in­de­pen­dent at­tor­neys on the Jack Warn­er con­tro­ver­sy as ir­rel­e­vant.

The at­tor­neys, in their ad­vice to At­tor­ney Gen­er­al Anand Ram­lo­gan, said there were no le­gal ob­sta­cles to Warn­er hold­ing the post as a Cab­i­net min­is­ter re­spon­si­ble for Works and Trans­port while si­mul­ta­ne­ous­ly hold­ing the of­fice as vice pres­i­dent of Fi­fa. In a tele­vi­sion in­ter­view yes­ter­day, Row­ley said all of the is­sues raised by the lawyers were "ex­tras and side-shows."

He said: "The Par­lia­ment passed a Code of Ethics for good rea­son, and the Code of Ethics that was passed in 1988 to gov­ern the con­duct of Min­is­ters of Gov­ern­ment and oth­er par­lia­men­tar­i­ans–in the case of Min­is­ters of Gov­ern­ment–that Code of Ethics specif­i­cal­ly says that a min­is­ter shall re­sign all di­rec­tor­ships," Row­ley said he would take the mat­ter to Fi­nance Min­is­ter Win­ston Dook­er­an, who has been ad­vo­cat­ing the con­cept of new pol­i­tics in T&T.
