Nolan Tash and Kelly-Anne Billingy were voted as the "Most Valuable Player" after leading T&T to the men's and women's title at the 13th Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association (Cazova) Championship which ended on Sunday night in Suriname.
The one-week tournament was contested at both the Ismay Van Wilgen Sports Hall and the Anthony Sports Hall, Paramaribo. Tash, the captain of the T&T team was also voted as the men's "Best Scorer" while team-mate Saleem Ali copped the "Best Setter" award.
In the final, T&T defeated long-time rivals Barbados 25-19, 25-20, 25-22 led by Tash with 19 points and 14 from Germany-based Marc-Anthony Honore and Jessel Davis. The men's final was a repeat of the 2006 decider in Bahamas, won by Barbados, while this year's win by T&T was dedicated to the memory of former national captain, Mark Daly, who died in a vehicular accident last November.
