Members of the T&T cricket team have given the T&T Cricket Board (TTCB) the assurance that 2010 will be a very successful year. This, according to president of the TTCB, Azim Bassarath. Officials off the TTCB met with the national cricketers and their management team on Sunday at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) for a post post-mortem of the results of the past year. This followed individual meetings with each player and the president on Friday and Saturday. Bassarath said Sunday's session noted that T&T had two bad games which derailed the season. "They spoke off the T20 semi-final loss against Guyana and the match against the Windwards in the recent West Indies 50 overs championships.

"What they told us was that they had two bad days at the 'office' and would be fighting very hard in the new year to correct their flaws and ensure that they win their big matches." T&T finished fourth in the regional First Class series, was knocked out in the semi-finals off the regional T20 series and failed to come out of the preliminary round in the regional 50 overs championships. The players have been given the full backing off the TTCB for the new season, according to Bassarath. "We have told the players that we are proud of them and we are going to do all we can to make sure they are well taken care off, as they go out to represent the country.

"The regional team's preparation committee will be meeting soon to plan a programme for the regional T20 series, which is the next tournament and we are going to use our resources to make their preparation is the best." Bassarath noted the players were hurting and his board was going to stand by them during this low period. "We are also making a call to the public to have patience, as the team looks to work its way out the current situation. "We have told the players that after dominating the regional scene, other countries would have been viewing them and doing their homework on how to better T&T. We have urged them to work hard and try to get ahead of the rest and stay there."
