PowerGen cricket club continues to be the top cricket club in T&T and underlined that status on Sunday night, when they won the inaugural Tobago Invitational T20 cricket title at the Dwight Yorke Stadium. Opener Nicholas Sookdeosingh was again the star of the show, as he hammered an unbeaten 69 to take PowerGen to a nine-wicket victory over Tobago West. Batting first Tobago West had compiled a competitive 140 for seven off their 20 overs. Leading the way was Lerron Lezama with 32 and Christian Adam with 40. Bowling for PowerGen bowler of the tournament Varoun Samaroo took 4/14 and Akiel Cooper 2/23. PowerGen then romped to victory at 146 for one off 14.1 overs.
Sookdeosingh who scored an unbeaten 57 in the semifinals, came to the party again and smashed an unbeaten 69 off 42 balls with seven fours and three sixes. He was ably supported by Jason Mohammed with an unbeaten 30 and Evin Lewis 33. Earlier, another Trinidad club was on winning row as Wanderers defeated Tobago East by a whopping 147 runs. Taking first strike, Wanderers tallied 217 for four off 20 overs with West Indies player Runako Morton lighting up the place with a glorious 79. His innings included seven sixes and three fours and occupied only 34 balls. Imran Khan got 52 and Mark Dyal the son of former national opener Deonarine Dyal, scored 41. In reply, Tobago East made 70 all out with Richard Murray getting 24. Zard Clarke grabbed 3/20.
