It was a glo­ri­ous day for the pupils of the Ari­ma Hin­du School on Thurs­day. Bindra Ma­haraj of BK Hard­ware and the man­ag­er of Ari­ma Hin­du School, Raj Jadoo of Jadoo's Trad­ing, Di­al Prab­hucha­ran, Trendy Kids and Who Cares Fash­ion all joined hands to give the chil­dren of the Tem­ple Street school their first ever Christ­mas treat. The event was made even more mem­o­rable for the chil­dren as they got a sur­prise vis­it from San­ta Claus who dis­trib­uted gifts. The pupils were over­whelmed by the vis­it and chant­ed "San­ta, San­ta!" The fa­mous Christ­mas char­ac­ter was mobbed dur­ing the en­tire vis­it.

Prin­ci­pal of the school, Ra­manie To­ta-Ma­harj said: "The vis­it from San­ta Claus (played by Jadoo) will cer­tain­ly put new life and en­er­gy in the lives of the stu­dents and mo­ti­vate them to do bet­ter in their school work." The school, which has a pop­u­la­tion of 227 pupils, was es­tab­lished in 1952. MP for Ari­ma Rodger Samuel re­cent­ly vis­it­ed the school where he of­fered in­spi­ra­tional words to help mo­ti­vate the pupils and teach­ers. Ac­cord­ing to Ma­haraj, the busi­ness own­ers found great joy in the ef­fort since for some of the chil­dren it would be the first and on­ly gift they get for the Christ­mas sea­son. The ini­tia­tive to give, Ma­haraj said, was sup­port­ed by the Sec­re­tary Gen­er­al and the ex­ec­u­tive of the Sanatan Dhar­ma Ma­ha Sab­ha.
