Two students of Presentation College, San Fernando, were taken to hospital yesterday after both were wounded during a bullying incident on the school's compound.According to reports, a 14-year-old-year-old student from Gasparillo up to last night was warded in a serious condition at the San Fernando General Hospital, awaiting surgery.School sources said the incident took place in view of other students at the school's Carib Street compound, who were recording it on their cellphones. Some were inciting the violence while others were shouting: "Don't kill him."Police said that shortly after 7 am, both students were involved in an argument at the school basketball court where the 14-year-old student accused the 15-year-old student of placing a cockroach in his school bag last Friday, knowing that he has a phobia for the insect.

The younger student allegedly had a blade and attacked the 15-year-old, cutting him on the right side of his back and chest. After seeing the blood, he became frightened and slit his own wrist, forearms and the side of his neck, police said.A release from the media relations officer of the Catholic Media Services Ltd Vernon Khelawan, said both students remained hospitalised.

He said: "According to acting school principal Dexter Mitchell, a Form Four student was brought to him suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds."He was taken immediately to the San Fernando General Hospital where it was ascertained that he sustained a stab wound to the back and a superficial wound to the chest. The student identified another student as responsible for his injuries.

"The other student was found at the back of the school's basketball court bleeding from an apparent self-inflicted wound. He was also rushed to the hospital and was scheduled for surgery to close the wound, which led to him losing a great deal of blood."Monsignor Christian Pereira, parish priest and chaplain of the college, has visited the school and counselling sessions have been held for students and staff."The stabbing come seven months after Chaguanas teenager Renaldo Dixon was stabbed to death by another student at the Waterloo Secondary School.

Snr Supt Cecil Santana and San Fernando Police are continuing investigations.
