McLeod 2nd in 100m, but misses out

T&T's Davis Mc Leod placed sec­ond in Heat 2 of the Men's 100m back­stroke as the Youth Olympic games be­gan in Nan­jing, Chi­na yes­ter­day.

Mc Leod clocked 58.18 sec­onds though it was not enough to qual­i­fy for the semi­fi­nals. McLeod, along with Dy­lan Carter, will be in ac­tion again on Tues­day in the 50m back­stroke while Johnya Fer­di­nand will com­pete in the 50 m freestyle.

Mean­while the pair of Ma­li­ka David­son and Chel­si Ward were beat­en 21-15, 21-7 by Ger­many's Sarah Schnei­der and Lisa Arn­holdt in Pre­lim­i­nary Pool E of Women's Beach Vol­ley­ball. To­day they will come up against In­done­sia's Nan­da Rag­illa and Risi­ki Dwi An­dri­ani while to­mor­row they will take on the Con­golese pair of Petron­ieNko­ka Ndougou and Ur­sia Reine Moyipele

Jem­i­nise Par­ris (100m hur­dles), Kasheif King (400m), Akan­ni His­lop (200m), Chelsea James (shot put) and And­wuelle Wright (long jump) will be look­ing to make their marks in their re­spec­tive events when ath­let­ics be­gins on Wednes­day.
