T&T Olympic Com­mit­tee (TTOC) pres­i­dent Bri­an Lewis will de­liv­er an ad­dress at the Re­gion­al Olympic Sol­i­dar­i­ty Fo­rum on the elec­tion process for Na­tion­al Olympic Com­mittes (NOCs) to­day and to­mor­row in Bridgetown, Bar­ba­dos.

The theme for this year's event is "Good Gov­er­nance in the Na­tion­al Olympic Com­mit­tees."

This year's fo­rum will in­clude a re­view of the work be­ing done with­in the Olympic move­ment, in the area of gov­er­nance, re­sult­ing from the ba­sic prin­ci­ples of good gov­er­nance doc­u­ment which was pro­duced by the In­ter­na­tion­al Olympic Com­mit­tee (IOC) in 2008.

It will al­so high­light best prac­tices be­ing de­vel­oped by NOCs and the chal­lenges they face as they seek to im­ple­ment good gov­er­nance mea­sures.

Lewis' ad­dress will en­tail the pro­ce­dure for elec­tions, el­i­gi­bil­i­ty con­di­tions and spe­cif­ic qual­i­fi­ca­tions.

As a re­sult of pre­sen­ta­tions and dis­cus­sions, the fo­rum aims to pro­duce a set of con­crete guide­lines and prac­ti­cal tools aimed at pro­vid­ing gener­ic as­sis­tance for NOCs.

These guide­lines will as­sist NOCs in im­ple­ment­ing the ba­sic prin­ci­ples of good gov­er­nance based on best prac­tice and the view of the IOC/Olympic Move­ment.

The TTOC was in­vit­ed to present by J�r�me Poivey, Head of In­sti­tu­tion­al Re­la­tions and Gov­er­nance NOC Re­la­tions De­part­ment.

Lewis will be ac­com­pa­nied by TTOC Sec­re­tary Gen­er­al An­nette Knott and Lovie San­tana, who has re­spon­si­bil­i­ty for TTOC gov­er­nance meet­ings.

Del­e­gates at­tend­ing this event will come from the Eng­lish, French and Dutch-speak­ing coun­tries in the Amer­i­c­as, in­clud­ing Cana­da and the Unit­ed States.
