For­mer na­tion­al ju­nior cap­tain Kwe­si Browne of Ari­ma Wheel­ers ex­celled in gusty con­di­tions to win the 200m fly­ing cat­e­go­ry and record a per­son­al best at the third Keep Fit con­test host­ed by the T&T Cy­cling Fed­er­a­tion (T&TCF) Keep Fit con­test, which was staged at the Ari­ma Velo­drome, on Sun­day.

Browne (11.546 sec­onds) edged run­ner-up Aziki­we Kel­lar (11.558) of Testi Ci­cli, while the lat­ter rid­er's broth­er Ako Kel­lar, al­so of Testi Ci­cli, fin­ished third in 12.514 sec­onds.

Even in the test­ing set­tings, the re­sult saw Browne im­prove con­sid­er­ably from his 12.2-sec­onds mark record­ed a month ago.

The re­sults put Browne and Kel­lar (Aziki­we) in prime po­si­tion to fin­ish be­low the qual­i­fy­ing stan­dard of 11.350 sec­onds for the Pan Amer­i­can Cy­cling Cham­pi­onships, which will be held from Feb­ru­ary 5-10, in Mex­i­co. The duo are set to chal­lenge the Elite Pan Amer­i­can Cy­cling Cham­pi­onship tri­als, which takes place from Tues­day to Thurs­day, next week.
