Homicide detectives have made no progress in the investigation into the murder of Guardian Media employee Junior Valentine.Valentine, 50, a senior supervisor in the T&T Guardian's Production Department, was shot dead while speaking to a neighbour in front of his Fatima Trace, Mentor Alley, Laventille, home, on January 11.
According to reports, at around 8.30 am two men armed with guns appeared and ran towards them. The neighbour ran inside his home, while Valentine was shot at more than 15 times by the two gunmen. The attackers then drove away in a car parked nearby.Police said Valentine was not the target of the shooting and believe it was his neighbour who was the gunmen's target.
After Valentine's murder, investigators said they were searching for two possible suspects. Police had not arrested the suspects up to late yesterday but were still said to be pursuing the case.Valentine's brother, Ian, is a retired police inspector and his other brother is assigned to the Anti-Corruption Bureau.Cpl Harvey of the Region One Homicide Bureau is investigating.
