National under-19 batsman Jeremy Solozano hit an unbeaten 107 as Hillview College defeated top-of-the-table Carapichaima East by five wickets at Honeymoon Park, El Dorado, yesterday.
Bowling first, Hillview restricted Carapichaima to 165 off 43 overs. Amrish Rampersad led the way for Hillview with 3/34. Anderson Phillip was the only batsman to offer resistance, making 52.
In response, Solozano was in fine form as wickets fell around him. Hillview got to their winning score of 166/5 with two and a half overs to spare.
In a bottom-of-the-table clash, Iere High School got their first win of the season, as they defeated Presentation Chaguanas by seven wickets. Presentation made 130/7 off their 50 overs with V Jagroop hitting an unbeaten 36.
Amit Sankar was the pick of the bowlers with 2/22. Jerron Joseph (60 not out) and captain Randy Narine (32) helped Iere cruise to victory, reaching their target with 14 overs to spare.
In a low-scoring encounter at Caldrac Ground in California, Fatima faced Union Claxton Bay (UCB). Batting first, Fatima got to 129/9 in this shortened 40-overs game. Sean Persad made 34 and Daniel Brown got 22 for Fatima.
O Bridgemohan and S Boodram took two wickets apiece for UCB, who would have fancied their chances chasing 130. However, Anand Lochan had other ideas, taking 4/27 while Donovan Chatan also took 2/13, to carry their team to victory.
