It was a day of centuries yesterday in the sixth round of the T&T Cricket League Premier Division two-day competition.Five hundreds were scored, with the Powergen opening pair of Nicholas Sookdeosingh and Evin Lewis sharing in an aggresive opening stand of 220 to guide their team into the driver's seat at the end of day one against Bamboo.
The left-handed duo of Sookdeosingh (119) and national player Lewis (103) clobbered the Bamboo bowlers all over the Syne Village ground yesterday. Sookdeosingh struck 13 fours and three sixes, while Lewis hit nine fours and three sixes. However, a middle and lower order collapse initiated by Selvin Jacobs (6/59) and Darren Deonarine (4/77), reduced the damag, limiting Powergen to 284 all out.
This gave Bamboo a chance to bat yesterday as well.Unfortunately for Bamboo, spin bowler Samuel Badree had other ideas, picking up 4/51. He was ably supported by Dave Mohammed, who grabbed 3/23 as Bamboo were skitteld out for 144.At Kennedy Park, the Guyanese pair of Rangana Latchana and Ryan Ramdass also scored centuries to leave Clarke Road in control against Diamond.
Latchana scored an unbeaten 108, while Ramdass made 105 as Clarke Road compiled a mammoth 301-7 declared. Guyanese Jonathon Foo was the best bowler for Diamond, snatching 3/73. At the close of play, Diamond were struggling on 61-4.The other century maker of the day was Aranguez batsman Deon Ferrier, who scored an unbeaten 109 to help his team to a strong position against Merry Boys.
