The corporate world is faced with issues of mismanagement and non compliance to internal controls. Therefore it is our responsibility as internal auditors to identify activities and make relevant recommendations to avoid corporate demise, says Roger Ramdwar, president, Institute of Internal Auditors T&T Chapter.
IIATT is an arm of the global body which offers such support and knowledge sharing to its members. The chapter was incorporated by an Act of Parliament (Act #21 of 1991) with clear objectives to increase knowledge and skills of its members regarding internal auditing, establishing and maintaining high standards of integrity, honour and character of its members and to promote and protect the welfare and interest of the Institute and the internal auditing profession in T&T, the IIATT said in a statement.
This year, the local chapter celebrates 25 years in T&T.To commemorate this achievement, the chapter said it would be hosting a series of events in the month of May, which is also International Internal Audit Awareness month. The events will culminate with a dinner and gala at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad hotel tomorrow. The IIATT said its membership to 270. The body said it has achieved seven gold Chapter Achievement Programmes (CAP) awards and is carded to receive the eighth such award under Ramdwar's presidency."The IIATT chapter is well on their way to platinum status, which requires it to hold ten consecutive gold CAP awards," read the statement.
