T&T Gold Cup squad announced

T&T's 23-man se­nior foot­ball team which will chal­lenge the 2013 Con­ca­caf Gold Cup from Ju­ly 7-28 was re­leased last evening fol­low­ing one of the last warm-up ses­sions, at the Hase­ly Craw­ford Sta­di­um, be­fore the team de­parts for its train­ing camp in Flori­da, USA, on Sun­day.

The squad sees the re­turn of sev­er­al play­ers who were un­avail­able for T&T's last friend­ly fix­tures, in­clud­ing Khaleem Hy­land and Car­los Ed­wards. No­table ab­sen­tees in­clude Ataulla Guer­ra and Hugh­tun Hec­tor, who are cur­rent­ly in ac­tion with their re­spec­tive clubs in Fin­land and Viet­nam, re­spec­tive­ly.

Mid­field­er Lester Pelti­er, whose sea­son with his Slo­va­kian club has fin­ished was left out, along with Shah­don Win­ches­ter and De­vorn Jorsling, the lat­ter pair has fea­tured in the T&T team in re­cent match­es.

T&T, with new­ly ap­point­ed head coach, Stephen Hart, will chal­lenge the Gold Cup for the first time since 2007. The So­ca War­riors will clash with El Sal­vador in its open­ing match on Ju­ly 8, be­fore meet­ing Haiti on Ju­ly 12.

The fi­nal group match will see T&T up against Hon­duras on Ju­ly 15.

Warm-up fix­tures are yet to be de­ter­mined, but as­sis­tant coach Hut­son Charles has as­sured that the team is in search for the most apt op­po­nent.

Mid­field­er: Christo­pher Bir­chall, Kevin Moli­no, Khaleem Hy­land, An­dre Bou­caud, Keon Daniel, Den­sill Theobald, Dar­ryl Roberts, Jo­evin Jones, Kevon Carter.

For­wards: Ja­mal Gay, Ken­wyne Jones, Cor­nell Glen.
