Jar­rin Solomon and Hileen James were among T&T ath­letes who ex­celled on the week­end with gold medal per­for­mances. Solomon was in win­ners' row at the New Mex­i­co Col­le­giate In­door Clas­sic in Al­bu­querque, Mex­i­co, USA, where he de­fend­ed his in­doors 400m crown in 46.55, im­prov­ing on the 46.79 clock­ing he achieved in 2011. Jovon Top­pin took sil­ver and was part of Flori­da 4x400 team which fin­ished sec­ond (3:12:34) in the re­lay. Field ath­lete James of Geor­gia Uni­ver­si­ty cap­tured the women's shot put at the Vir­ginia Tech Elite Meet with a throw of 15.43 which she achieved in the third round.

Garvin Nero and Ayana Alexan­der grab­bled sil­ver medals at the New Bal­ance Grand Prix at the Reg­gie Lewis Cen­tre, in Boston. Nero (Bay­lor) took sil­ver in the men's 1,000m. The for­mer mul­ti­ple Carif­ta cham­pi­on clocked two mins 25.53 to im­prove on the bronze in 2:22:39. Nero then helped Bay­lor to sil­ver in the men's 4X800m in 7:31:47. De­on Lendore's Texas A&M won the men's 4X400m in 3:07:98 with Ade Al­leyne-Forte LSU team in sec­ond (3:08:50) and Zwede He­witt's Bay­lor in fifth (3:11:33). Com­mon­wealth sil­ver medal­list Ayan­na Alexan­der was run­ner up in the women's triple jump with 12.94m, be­low her 2012 best leap of 13.68m. Ren­ny Quow grabbed bronze in the men's 400. Quow was go­ing for the sec­ond suc­cess for 2012 but had to set­tle for bronze in per­son­al best time of 46.70. Tak­ing the gold was the 2011 World Out­door cham­pi­on Ki­rani James of Grena­da. The phe­nom­e­nal 19-year-old got to the tape in 45.96 with Josh Scott of the US al­so fin­ish­ing ahead of Quow in 46.54.

Re­yare Thomas was sec­ond in the women's 200m at the Frank Se­vi­gne Husker In­vi­ta­tion­al at the De­vaney Sport Cen­tre in Lin­coln, Ne­bras­ka, cross­ing the line in 24.23 to fin­ish be­hind Bar­ba­di­an Mara Weekes (Ne­bras­ka) who won in 24.16. Thomas was sixth in the women's 60m fi­nals in 7.60. Mikel Thomas was ex­pect­ed to con­test the men's 60m hur­dles fi­nals but did not start. Sparkle Mck­night and Janiel Bellille fin­ished 2-3 in the women's 400m at the Texas Tech In­door No3 Meet in Lub­bock, Texas. Mc Knight clocked 54.14 with Bellile be­hind in 54.83. The South Plains Col­lege pair was out­done for the gold by Grena­di­an Janelle Red­head (Way­land Bap­tiste) who won in 54.09. At the Meyo In­vi­ta­tion­al in Notre Dame, In­di­ana, Durell Bus­by claimed bronze in the men's 60m hur­dles in 7.96.
