Amer­i­can Jes­si­ca Yanz, and Ger­many's Se­bas­t­ian Haehn­er are among 24 for­eign­ers from nine coun­tries set to com­pete for lo­cal clubs when the Caribbean Vol­ley­ball League serves off at the Jean Pierre Com­plex, Mu­cu­rapo from to­mor­row (We­nes­day) at 12 noon un­til Sun­day.Yanz, was named the Uni­ver­si­ty of Day­ton pro­gramme's first Di­rec­tor of Vol­ley­ball Op­er­a­tions in 2010. She played col­le­giate vol­ley­ball at both the Uni­ver­si­ty of Ne­bras­ka and Penn State and will line up for Glam­or­gan clubs which al­so has in its ranks an­oth­er Amer­i­can, An­drea Jus­tine Lan­di, Chris­tine An­tho­ny (Cu­ra­cao), Shari Matthews (Bar­ba­dos) and Le­cia Brown (Jami­a­ca).

Both De­fence Force-Car­la Rudea Coti­to (Pe­ru), Man­ni­ka Charles (USVI), Naki­ni Thomp­son (Suri­name); and Tech­nocrats-Kamille Dwyer (Ja­maica), Cher­ine Richards (Ja­maica), Jan­ice Va­lies (Suri­name) and T&T's Kel­ly-Anne Billingy (Nantes/France) are all reg­is­tered. They will all be seek­ing to de­throne the Uni­ver­si­ty of T&T, which won the ti­tle when the tour­na­ment was first held four years ago. The five-day tour­na­ment which has a first prize of US$5000 and fea­tures five men and four women's teams is be­ing host­ed by the T&T Vol­ley­ball Fed­er­a­tion with the sup­port of the Fed­er­a­tion In­ter­na­tion­al Vol­ley­ball and the Gov­ern­ment of T&T. It will be the first of a se­ries of events be­ing staged to cel­e­brate the 50th an­niver­sary of the T&TVF which will end with a Norce­ca Beach Vol­ley­ball Tour­na­ment in Oc­to­ber. Tonight, a Tech­ni­cal Meet­ing host­ed nby the Lo­cal Or­gan­is­ing Com­mit­tee takes place at Co­co Lounge, Ari­api­ta Av­enue from 7pm where of­fi­cials, man­agers, coach­es, play­ers and oth­er par­tic­i­pants of the league will be in at­ten­dance.
