I've been away from home in sweet T&T now for 14 years. Oh, I miss the beach, roti, doubles, curry crab and dumplings, pelau, red beans and rice stew chicken, pork and beef, with macaroni pie, boiled plantain, sweet potato, coo-coo, king fish and callaloo, just to name a few.
What in heaven's name wrong with you people? Don't you all realise as yet that you are living in heaven right here on earth? I am 62, have to get up at 4 am, rain or snow, and get my old butt to work in order to pay my bills.
In Trinidad, when I was home, yes, I was working as well, but eight to four, and it was all fun. We drank, smoked whatever we wanted to, played music as we worked. When I look back now I tell my friends that back home I never did a day's work. It was all fun in the sun. Come on people, don't spoil it. I have every intention of coming back home to live when I retire. Stop the violence, please!.
