Some 30 teams are expected to contest the San Fernando Future Football Stars Tournament, hosted by the San Fernando Sporting Academy, in collaboration with the Southern Football Association (SFA) Youth Development Programme, at Skinner Park, San Fernando, from 8.30 am today.
As in the past, the tournament will attract some of the top football training schools in South, including A&R Coaching School, Spit Fire Sports Academy, Point Fortin Youth Academy and the oldest training school in San Fernando, Jan Steadman Coaching School.
There will be six divisions of action all of which are boys and girls inclusive, with one boys only division, the Boys 15-and-under category, followed by an over-35 competition for both men and women, which is set to kick off after 2 pm.
The competition is a biannual tournament held in May and November each year. The last tournament was nominated by the Ministry of Sport for the Best Community Programme. All Under-8 andU-8 boys and girls will receive gold medals for participation. All other divisions will receive trophies and medals for their first, second and third placed finishers.
The tournament is sponsored by the Citizen Security Programme, the Ministry of Sport, SporTT and from the contributions of San Fernando Sports Academy.
