Two mem­bers of the Roy­al Bar­ba­dos Po­lice Force, who are ac­cused of rape and sex­u­al as­sault of a 27-year-old Ja­maican woman, have been for­mal­ly charged.The Ja­maica Ob­serv­er iden­ti­fied the con­sta­bles as Jonathan Bar­row, 32, and a woman con­sta­ble, 25-year-old Melanie Den­ny.Bar­row is charged with se­ri­ous in­de­cen­cy while Den­ny is ac­cused of aid­ing and abet­ting Bar­row to com­mit an act of se­ri­ous in­de­cen­cy on the woman.Both were charged on Thurs­day night and ap­peared in Dis­trict A Mag­is­trate's Court on Fri­day.They are ex­pect­ed to reap­pear in court on Sep­tem­ber 1. Both were grant­ed bail in the sum of B$5,000.The com­plainant in the mat­ter said Den­ny let two po­lice­men in­side the cell the vic­tim oc­cu­pied at the Cen­tral Po­lice Sta­tion in Bridgetown af­ter she was held with mar­i­jua­na in her lug­gage at the Grant­ley Adams In­ter­na­tion­al Air­port in late Feb­ru­ary.

The vic­tim said Bar­row forced her to per­form oral sex on him while she claimed the oth­er male of­fi­cer, who has not yet been iden­ti­fied, raped her.Bar­row and Den­ny were point­ed out dur­ing sep­a­rate iden­ti­fi­ca­tion pa­rades last week.The woman is cur­rent­ly serv­ing a 15-month sen­tence.Mean­while, a 23-year-old Ja­maican woman who was al­leged­ly abused by a fe­male im­mi­gra­tion of­fi­cer has been in­vit­ed by the Bar­ba­dos For­eign Af­fairs Min­is­ter to vis­it Bar­ba­dos to par­tic­i­pate in a iden­ti­fi­ca­tion pa­rade to iden­ti­fy the per­pe­tra­tor.
