Speedy forward, Kendall Jagdeosingh of US Pro Soccer League club, Rochester Raging Rhinos, has been added to the Soca Warriors training squad ahead of its next two 2014 Concacaf World Cup qualifiers against Bermuda and Barbados. The 26-year-old Jagdeosingh, who has eight appearances for the national team, had his first training session under Soca Warriors coach Otto Pfister at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, yesterday. It was the first session called by Pfister since T&T won its first two matches against Bermuda 1-0 at home on September 2 and away to Barbados (2-0) on September 6. Jagdeosingh is coming off an impressive first season for the Rhinos at the end of which he was voted the club's "Offensive Player of the Year."
He tied for the team lead in goals with five and added one assist in his time up front having signed for the club on February 1, after playing with the Puerto Rico Islanders for four seasons. The other overseas players who attended yesterday's 90-minute session included US-based duo Devorn Jorsling and Kevin Molino, both of newly crowned US Pro Soccer League champion, Orlando City Lions, while former Belgium-based goalkeeper, Jan-Michael Williams was also present. Joe Public defender, Carlyle Mitchell, who has signed with the MLS club Vancouver Whitecaps, also trained ahead of his possible departure on Thursday while Keon Daniel of US Major Soccer's Philadelphia Union, goalkeeper Marvin Phillip (on trial with Whitecaps) and defender Seon Powers were absent.
The others included W Connection's Jerrel Britto, Hughtun Hector, Shahdon Winchester, Mekeil Williams; Hayden Tinto, Andre Toussaint (Joe Public), Stern John, Kevaughn Connell, Anthony Wolfe (North East Stars); Akini Adams, Akeem Adams, Andrei Pacheco (T&TEC). The team will also train tomorrow while the squad for the Bermuda qualifier to be played in Hamilton, will assemble in Fort Lauderdale on October 2 for a training camp before departing for Bermuda three days later. Currently, the Soca Warriors are joint top of its second round, Group B, with six points-the same as Guyana which has a better goal-difference while Bermuda and Barbados are without a point. T&T plays away to Bermuda on October 7 before hosting Barbados at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, four days later.
