Hundreds marched for peace yesterday morning when the Chinmaya Mission held its annual peace march.The march began at the Divine Life Society headquarters at Carlsen Field, Chaguanas, and ended at the Chinmaya Mission headquarters at McBean, Couva.Leading the march were Couva South MP Rudy Indarsingh and Swami Prakash Ananda, head of the Chinmaya Mission.The walk took place on the anniversary of the death of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, an Indian freedom fighter and advocate for world peace.
Indarsingh said the world should not forget the message of peace that Gandhi struggled for.He said the world and country could benefit immensely from the teachings of peace and unity which Gandhi gave the world.Swami Ananda said the march also served to ensure that young people got involved in healthy and productive lifestyles.
