In col­lab­o­ra­tion with Re­pub­lic Bank Ltd, the T&T Can­cer So­ci­ety (TTCS) is host­ing its first on­line Text-a-thon and auc­tion to­mor­row.

Through­out this glob­al pan­dem­ic, the TTCS has cre­at­ed ways to con­tin­ue its ac­tiv­i­ties and pro­vide sup­port to the na­tion­al com­mu­ni­ty in every way pos­si­ble, in­clud­ing ed­u­ca­tion, screen­ing, sur­vivor net­work re­la­tions, and ad­vo­ca­cy. How­ev­er, one area re­quired cre­ative think­ing—in­no­v­a­tive ways to con­tin­ue fundrais­ing.

While the gov­ern­ment sub­sidis­es the TTCS, there is al­ways a need to cre­ate ad­di­tion­al funds to keep the or­gan­i­sa­tion func­tion­ing at ca­pac­i­ty to con­tin­ue to of­fer the lev­el and stan­dard of screen­ing ser­vices and ed­u­ca­tion pro­grammes.

The Text-a-Thon as­pect of this event (a spin-off to tra­di­tion­al telethons) al­lows peo­ple to send in their pledges via What­sApp, texts and email or de­posit di­rect­ly to our ac­count via our web­site.

The auc­tion as­pect func­tions where peo­ple can send in their bids again via text, What­sApp, and email. The high­est bid­der wins the chance to pur­chase said item.

The wheels are al­ready in mo­tion, and bid­ding and pledges have start­ed, so any­one wish­ing to do­nate, pledge, or bid can do so now and sup­port the coun­try’s fight against can­cer.

These el­e­ments will come to­geth­er at the very an­tic­i­pat­ed on­line con­cert event to­mor­row.

It will all be streamed live on Face­book and In­sta­gram, from 3 pm to 6 pm. Sev­er­al artistes will be per­form­ing on­line to cre­ate a con­cert vibe so that peo­ple can join in for some fun and ex­cite­ment.
