Ralph Wal­ter Guer­ra, 82, born in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & To­ba­go, West In­dies passed away on Sat­ur­day March 7, 2020 at St. Mary's Hos­pi­tal in Mon­tre­al, Cana­da. A Memo­r­i­al Ser­vice will be held at 10:00am on Fri­day March 13, 2020 at Rideau Memo­r­i­al Gar­dens & Fu­ner­al Home in Dol­lard–des-Ormeaux, Que­bec, Cana­da. Ralph was born on Ju­ly 13, 1937. He mar­ried his beloved wife of 58 years, Gem­ma Rose An­drews (de­ceased) on Ju­ly 19, 1958. Ralph grad­u­at­ed Cum Laude with a Bach­e­lor of Arts in Eco­nom­ics De­gree from Howard Uni­ver­si­ty in Wash­ing­ton, D.C. in June, 1960 and went on to study at the Lon­don School of Eco­nom­ics in Lon­don, Eng­land in 1963. Af­ter com­plet­ing their stud­ies, Ralph & Gem­ma re­turned to North Amer­i­ca on the Em­press of Cana­da ocean lin­er in 1964 and set­tled in Mon­tre­al, Que­bec, Cana­da to raise their fam­i­ly. Ralph was em­ployed as a buy­er for Stein­bergs & Mir­a­cle Mart, a well-known, in­no­v­a­tive gro­cery and mer­chan­dise re­tail chain in the Que­bec and On­tario re­gion. His ca­reer spanned 24 years with that com­pa­ny, and he en­joyed his work thor­ough­ly. Ralph loved be­ing a fam­i­ly man, and en­joyed sports, videog­ra­phy, and be­ing a mem­ber of the Mon­tre­al Car­ing So­ci­ety. He cel­e­brat­ed his West In­di­an her­itage every chance he could with his fam­i­ly and close friends. He en­joyed read­ing about news events tak­ing place in Trinidad, catch­ing up with old friends, and spent a sig­nif­i­cant amount of time bond­ing with the 7 grand­chil­dren who he and Gem­ma loved so dear­ly. Ralph is sur­vived and loved by his two daugh­ters, Sharon (Rod­er­ick) and Francine (Richard), son, Doug, 7 grand­chil­dren, Nicole, Tam­my, Justin, Nathaniel, Ali­cia, Olivia, Si­mone; his sis­ters Elsie and Bren­da of Brook­lyn, NY, as well as sev­er­al nieces and nephews. He was pre­ced­ed in death by his par­ents, Raphael and Doris, and broth­er, Os­wald, and wife, Gem­ma most re­cent­ly in 2016. Ralph, "Dad­dy", "Grand­pere", "Un­cle Ralph" will be great­ly missed by oth­er rel­a­tives and friends.
