Hey kids, have you ever thought maths could be as exciting as playing a game? Well, it can! Let me tell you about a cool idea from Jhalisa John, a mum from Trinidad and Tobago who loves making learning fun for her three little ones at home.
Jhalisa is a homeschooling mum who creates crafts, sings rhyming songs, and plans joyful activities. She believes kids learn best when they're having a blast, not when it feels like a chore. That's why she started Saint Hadar Kids in 2023, the Caribbean's first brand for play-based learning. On her website, sainthadarkids.com, you can find printable crafts, colouring pages, and hands-on fun that match what you learn in school, like Social Studies, Science, Maths, and Language Arts.
One day in 2025, Jhalisa created some interactive pages for her kids to practise maths, such as counting, skip counting, and multiplication. It started small but soon turned into a whole book! Her family loved it and encouraged her to share it. Even though making books was tricky and expensive, she got help from kind people across the region who believed in her idea.
Now, "Count and Play With Saint Hadar Kids" is here in Trinidad and Tobago! It's not just any maths book; it's full of characters who look like you, with familiar foods, homes, and toys. You can learn number recognition, tallying, tracing, and more, all while pretending and exploring. Best of all, it makes learning feel like play, without any tears or pressure.
So, remember maths can be an adventure! What fun maths games do you play at home? Share with your friends, and let's make learning joyful together!
