Following a night filled with talent despite many disruptions, the Point Fortin Borough Queen Show crowned a winner.

Dr Tehilla Jeffery, the daughter of former Member of Parliament for La Brea, Fitzgerald Jeffery, was crowned the Borough’s 43rd Queen.

The show was held at the Point Fortin East Secondary School to a sold-out audience.

Nine delegates entertained in swimwear, performed a talent, paraded in evening wear, and the final five answered the Q&A segment.

The many lulls during the five-hour show left a bitter taste in the mouths of patrons, some asked for a refund of their entrance fee and some cheered to initiate that the show be resumed.

The talent segment, where most of the delay occurred, remained part of the show as, according to the host, Travis Joseph, “the girls invested too much money and time into that segment.”

As the show progressed, the talent segment held patrons highly entertained.

Dr Jeffery emerged on the shadowy stage all set to deliver and she eventually delivered a song made popular by American singer Jennifer Hudson, One Night Only.

The audience was seemingly placed in a trance when the Vessigny beauty completed the song and left the stage to thunderous applause and a standing ovation.

Dr Jeffery said she recently completed a degree to become a doctor.

In the talent segment of the competition, some of the delegates touched on social issues and labels, and women who were subjected to domestic abuse.

Others paid tribute to noteworthy women like Singing Sandra, Beyonce, and iconic calypsonians from Point Fortin.

At the show’s end and in the special award segments, Dr Jeffery took home the best talent award.

Darnella Joseph won Best Physique, People’s Choice, and Miss Photogenic.

Aaliyah Edmund won the best evening gown and the most improved delegate segment.

The best introduction was awarded to Emerald Edwards and the most dedicated delegate and friendly friend was Francois.

Running first and second runners up to Jeffery were Tineka Francois and Darnella Joseph respectively.
