Dear Madam Prime Minister Mia Mottley,
Permit me to introduce myself. My name is Balliram Maharaj, I am the Chief Executive Officer of ADM Import & Export Distributors Limited, a food import and distribution business in Trinidad and Tobago, where I have contributed to the food industry for moer than four decades. I am a member of several business associations, including the Trinidad & Tobago Chamber of Commerce and a foundation member of the Supermarkets’ Association of Trinidad and Tobago.
On behalf of my family and dedicated employees, we wish to express our deepest gratitude for the assistance you rendered to our 33 T&T fellow citizens who found themselves stranded in Barbados when our country closed its borders during this COVID-19 pandemic. Madam Prime Minister, you responded decisively to this once-in-a-lifetime crisis. Barbados did not reject our citizens, instead, you went above and beyond the expected call of duty to ensure that they were comfortably housed and all of their needs were adequately addressed.
Madam Prime Minister, I followed your address at the Energy Chamber’s Conference which was hosted in Trinidad earlier this year, and in my humble view, you are an outstanding role model. Honourable Prime Minister, if there was ever a moment in time that we needed people like you, that time is now. You are an exemplar of leadership, displaying sensible decision-making, coupled with compassion. Permit me, Madam, apart from saying thanks to you, to also extend our sincerest appreciation for the support and kindness demonstrated by the people of Barbados towards our fellow citizens.
In closing Honourable Prime Minister, I wish you good health, strength and long life, and may God bless you richly, so that you can continue to lead by example, imparting respect and honour for all human beings, regardless of creed, race or nationality.
Balliram Maharaj
