The Rotary Club of San Fernando South held its first 5K polio run/walk on October 22 to commemorate World Polio Day, which was celebrated on October 24. Scores of people participated in the event. This year’s theme is “Create Hope in the World”. The event was held to raise awareness about the importance of eradicating polio and to contribute to the global efforts of Rotary International’s End Polio Now campaign.

The race started at Lady Hailes Avenue, opposite Skinner Park, then onto King’s Wharf, up to Chancery Lane, Rienzi Kirton Highway, and ended in Skinner Park, where each participant received a medal.

President of the Rotary Club of San Fernando South DeCoursey Redman expressed gratitude to everyone who participated in and supported the inaugural 5K Polio Run/Walk.

“Your unwavering dedication and commitment to creating a polio-free world have contributed to a brighter future for all. Together, we have created hope and made a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by polio,” Redman said.

He extended appreciation to sponsors, volunteers, and community partners for their invaluable support.

“Without their contributions, this event would not have been possible. Together, we continue to create hope and work towards a world where polio is eradicated.”
