The Trinity Dance Theatre of Trinidad and Tobago captivated audiences at Queen’s Hall with its latest production, Seeds.
Led by artistic director Allan Balfour, the performance was a much-anticipated follow-up to last year’s acclaimed presentation, Alpha. Seeds featured several new works that explored growth, identity, and social awareness through movement and storytelling.
The opening piece, It Starts with Us, showcased young dancers from Marcia Charles Dance Academy, Auntie Afiyfa’s Academy of Dance, La Danse Caribe, and Dance Dynamics Trinidad and Tobago. Narrated by Ernest Che Rodriguez, the performance set an uplifting and unifying tone for the evening.
Guest artiste Isabella Ragoonanan of the Metamorphosis Dance Company delivered a moving solo titled Searching, blending grace and emotional depth in her interpretation.
Another standout piece, Silenced, choreographed by Allan Balfour and Terry Springer, addressed the urgent issue of human trafficking. Through striking choreography and poignant imagery, the work shed light on the pain, resilience, and hope of survivors.
With Seeds, Trinity Dance Theatre once again demonstrated its commitment to using the language of dance to inspire thought, evoke emotion, and sow the seeds of change.
