The St Joseph’s Convent Port-of-Spain (SJC POS) Class of 1975 recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of its fifth form graduation from the school in a joint celebration with the sixth form graduating class of 1977.
A total of 61 alumnae participated in a series of fundraising events from May 13 to 18—including 13 who travelled from the Bahamas, Barbados, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States to attend.
The week-long celebrations included tours of President’s House; limes at The Arboretum (Chaguaramas), and Gasparee Island; a nutrition seminar facilitated by Susan Daniel; a Dance-a-Roke Night (Karaoke with Waist!); a photoshoot at the school; and a potluck gathering in Cascade.
The week culminated in the school’s Annual Reunion Mass, celebrated by His Grace, Archbishop Jason Gordon, followed by a luncheon at CIC Hall.
The SJC POS Class of 1975-77 chose two priority projects to support, including the replacement of guttering across the school and the installation of an emergency staircase in the Exam Block.
Thus far, this year’s Golden Anniversary alumnae have raised the sum of $141,500, or 47 per cent of the desired target set by the Past Pupils Association’s Fifty at 50 Years Golden Anniversary fundraising project.
Fundraising continues until December 2025.
