A 73-year-old Guaico Tamana woman, who was reported missing earlier last week, has been found dead.
Linder Alexander was last seen by family members on Monday, August 3, after she left home to collect a hamper. She was later reportedly seen between 10 am and 11 am on Tuesday in front of Scotiabank, Sangre Grande. Another eyewitness reported seeing her heading towards the Sangre Grande Market.
Alexander did not return home and was subsequently reported missing to police.
Family members, along with the Registered Hunters Search and Rescue Team led by Commander Shamsudeen Ayube, conducted searches for her.
Ayube personally located Alexander’s body near a river in Guaico Tamana on Saturday evening.
Searches had been conducted in several areas, including the Sangre Grande Hospital, Blake Avenue, sections of the Mayaro Main Road and surrounding areas.
Ayube confirmed the discovery to Guardian Media and extended condolences to Alexander’s family, friends and loved ones.
Police were informed and visited the scene.
