A 73-year-old Guaico Tamana woman, who was re­port­ed miss­ing ear­li­er last week, has been found dead.

Lin­der Alexan­der was last seen by fam­i­ly mem­bers on Mon­day, Au­gust 3, af­ter she left home to col­lect a ham­per. She was lat­er re­port­ed­ly seen be­tween 10 am and 11 am on Tues­day in front of Sco­tia­bank, San­gre Grande. An­oth­er eye­wit­ness re­port­ed see­ing her head­ing to­wards the San­gre Grande Mar­ket.

Alexan­der did not re­turn home and was sub­se­quent­ly re­port­ed miss­ing to po­lice.

Fam­i­ly mem­bers, along with the Reg­is­tered Hunters Search and Res­cue Team led by Com­man­der Sham­sudeen Ayube, con­duct­ed search­es for her.

Ayube per­son­al­ly lo­cat­ed Alexan­der’s body near a riv­er in Guaico Tamana on Sat­ur­day evening.

Search­es had been con­duct­ed in sev­er­al ar­eas, in­clud­ing the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal, Blake Av­enue, sec­tions of the Ma­yaro Main Road and sur­round­ing ar­eas.

Ayube con­firmed the dis­cov­ery to Guardian Me­dia and ex­tend­ed con­do­lences to Alexan­der’s fam­i­ly, friends and loved ones.

Po­lice were in­formed and vis­it­ed the scene.
