Two Trinis selected for FIA University Leadership training in Spain

Two board mem­bers of the Trinidad & To­ba­go Au­to­mo­bile As­so­ci­a­tion (TTAA), Sel­wyn Richard Per­sad and Daryl Geawan were both nom­i­nat­ed and spe­cial­ly se­lect­ed as two out of 30 at­ten­dees from 17 clubs world­wide to take part in the 11th edi­tion of the Fédéra­tion In­ter­na­tionale de l’Au­to­mo­bile-FIA Uni­ver­si­ty Emerg­ing Lead­ers Pro­gramme 2022.

The pro­gramme is ex­clu­sive­ly ded­i­cat­ed to FIA Mem­ber Clubs. The 11th edi­tion was held in Barcelona, Spain, from May 16 to 20, 2022.

The FIA Emerg­ing Lead­ers pro­gramme, is a col­lab­o­ra­tion be­tween the FIA and the Uni­ver­si­ty of Esade Busi­ness School.

Par­tic­i­pants came to­geth­er to share their ex­pe­ri­ences and train for the fu­ture of Mo­bil­i­ty and club trans­for­ma­tion un­der the FIA.

FIA pres­i­dent Mo­hammed Ben Su­layem vis­it­ed the par­tic­i­pants on the fi­nal morn­ing to share some in­sights on his vi­sion for the FIA un­der his pres­i­den­cy, and to share in the dis­cus­sions with the par­tic­i­pants.

This was the first time in the 11-year his­to­ry of the pro­gramme that the pres­i­dent of the FIA has vis­it­ed.

The par­tic­i­pants, as spe­cial­ly in­vit­ed VIP guests of the FIA, were af­ford­ed the op­por­tu­ni­ty to at­tend the F1 Spainish Grand Prix hav­ing re­ceived pri­vate tours of the pad­docks/pits and safe­ty ar­eas.

The FIA is an as­so­ci­a­tion es­tab­lished in 1904 to rep­re­sent the in­ter­ests of mo­tor­ing or­gan­i­sa­tions and mo­tor car users.

The FIA is most­ly known as the gov­ern­ing body for many au­to rac­ing events, such as the well-known For­mu­la One.

Per­sad and Gae­wan are both board mem­bers of the TTAA (Trinidad & To­ba­go Au­to­mo­bile As­so­ci­a­tion), a non-prof­it or­gan­i­sa­tion which is a full af­fil­i­ate mem­ber to the FIA un­der the Mo­bil­i­ty arm.

The TTAA is the on­ly or­gan­i­sa­tion in T&T re­spon­si­ble for all In­ter­na­tion­al Dri­ving Per­mits and mo­bil­i­ty ser­vice to its mem­bers.

Per­sad and Geawan toured one of largest wine pro­duc­ers in Spain with oth­er par­tic­i­pants, and re­ceived their Diplo­mas for the de­vel­op­ment of mo­bil­i­ty and club trans­for­ma­tion.
