The ANSA McAL Group has announced strategic changes to its head office executive team.
These changes are directly in support of our 2X growth agenda and underwrite the redefined purpose of corporate head office, which is to guide and empower its sectors with a purposeful move towards agility.
In a statement to staff, ANSA McAL Group CEO, Anthony N Sabga III said the updated structure with its associated functions will powerfully support the group’s objective to double in size and scale by 2027 and enhance its vision to inspire a better world for both our internal and external teams.
New chief of staff
Effective September 1, 2024, Miles Baker was appointed as the chief of staff (COS) and will report directly to the Group CEO, Anthony N Sabga III.
Having re-joined the group in 2022 as the Chief Strategy Officer, he understands and connects deeply to the delivery of the group’s 2X aspiration.
Miles brings extensive experience to this role having worked in 37 countries and with 54 multi-national companies. The group said his appointment comes at a crucial time as it seeks to intensify efforts in driving its regional and global growth agenda. In Baker’s new capacity as chief of staff, he will be relentlessly focused on execution of the Group CEO’s strategic and operational agenda, ANSA McAL said.
Chief strategy officer
Andre Jeffers has been promoted to the position of chief strategy officer of the ANSA McAL Group, effective September 1st, 2024. In this pivotal role, Andre will report directly to the Group CEO and will continue to drive the group’s strategic vision forward.
Having rejoined ANSA McAL two years ago as Head of Strategy & Growth, Andre has been a key architect in advancing the 2X strategic agenda. His natural leadership in various M&A and strategic initiatives has been instrumental in propelling the Group’s growth. In his new position, Andre will work closely with the executive leadership team to further shape and implement our strategic objectives, with a particular emphasis on growth through capital investments, strategic partnerships, and M&A within the Caribbean region and beyond.
Andre holds a BBA in Finance (Summa Cum Laude) from Howard University. He has worked in investment banking on Wall Street, with Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital and further advanced his career at The Carlyle Group as an investment associate. He has advised on or directly executed over US$12 billion in corporate M&A and private equity investments globally, bringing a wealth of experience to spearhead ANSA McAL’s growth agenda. By establishing key performance indicators and fostering a culture of strategic agility, Andre will continue to play a critical role in positioning the Group as a leader in its industry and ensuring its sustained success.
Group external affairs
The new purpose of the group corporate affairs unit is to safeguard the ANSA McAL brand and expand its reputation globally by effectively communicating and engaging all stakeholders. In support of this, it will be retitled group external affairs. Its focus will be specifically on brand governance, stakeholder engagement and external communications, strategic social partnerships and corporate sustainability.
Effective immediately, the role of head of culture and communications will change to the head of marketing and external communications. With this new focus, Sarah Inglefield will continue to report to the chief legal and external affairs officer and will spearhead the efforts to strengthen the Group’s brand presence regionally and internationally, maintaining societal value through our corporate sustainability and ongoing external stakeholder engagement, all in service of our 2X growth objectives and increase stakeholder value.
Human resources and culture
We believe that a vibrant, aligned workplace culture is key to achieving our strategic goals and enhancing our talent initiatives. Amy Lazzari, will continue as our chief human resource officer and will now, assume responsibility for the group’s culture transformation initiatives. This transition underscores ANSA McAL’s commitment to building a stronger and more diverse organizational culture and to build powerful leadership with a cohesive approach to employee engagement, within the HR framework and business strategy.
The role will report to the chief shared services officer and now assume responsibility for internal communications, while aligning employee initiatives with ANSA McAL’s values and business goals, ultimately enhancing our Group’s overall organisational performance. The continued well-being, engagement, and development of our people and teams will be paramount, while promoting our core values, wellness, and empowered engagement across the organisation. This includes fostering resilience, agility, diversity, and inclusion, as well as driving targeted professional development to support our ambitious 2X agenda.
New chief shared services Officer
We warmly welcome back Faheem Mohammed to the group, as chief shared services officer on October 1st, 2024. Reporting directly to the Group CEO, this role will oversee the HR and other key corporate services with the vision of driving efficiencies and best practices in these areas.
Faheem brings a wealth of experience across various sectors, including policy development, business strategy, employee & industrial relations, organizational design, and Six Sigma systems. With both academic and practical experience, he has successfully implemented best practices in multiple countries with Caricom and across the globe. In his most recent role, he managed HR, HSE, Corporate Services functions at the C-suite level within the financial services industry.
Faheem is currently completing his research for a PhD in Business Administration at the University of the West Indies. He also holds an MSc in Strategic Leadership and Management and a BSc in Management Studies & Psychology with honours, from the same institution. Additionally, he is a certified mediator for Civil Non-Family matters by the Mediation Board of T&T. Outside of work, Faheem is a lecturer, an avid outdoor trail biker and gym enthusiast, and passionate about servant leadership.
