ANSA McAL announces executive appointments

The ANSA McAL Group has an­nounced strate­gic changes to its head of­fice ex­ec­u­tive team.

These changes are di­rect­ly in sup­port of our 2X growth agen­da and un­der­write the re­de­fined pur­pose of cor­po­rate head of­fice, which is to guide and em­pow­er its sec­tors with a pur­pose­ful move to­wards agili­ty.

In a state­ment to staff, ANSA McAL Group CEO, An­tho­ny N Sab­ga III said the up­dat­ed struc­ture with its as­so­ci­at­ed func­tions will pow­er­ful­ly sup­port the group’s ob­jec­tive to dou­ble in size and scale by 2027 and en­hance its vi­sion to in­spire a bet­ter world for both our in­ter­nal and ex­ter­nal teams.

New chief of staff

Ef­fec­tive Sep­tem­ber 1, 2024, Miles Bak­er was ap­point­ed as the chief of staff (COS) and will re­port di­rect­ly to the Group CEO, An­tho­ny N Sab­ga III.

Hav­ing re-joined the group in 2022 as the Chief Strat­e­gy Of­fi­cer, he un­der­stands and con­nects deeply to the de­liv­ery of the group’s 2X as­pi­ra­tion.

Miles brings ex­ten­sive ex­pe­ri­ence to this role hav­ing worked in 37 coun­tries and with 54 mul­ti-na­tion­al com­pa­nies. The group said his ap­point­ment comes at a cru­cial time as it seeks to in­ten­si­fy ef­forts in dri­ving its re­gion­al and glob­al growth agen­da. In Bak­er’s new ca­pac­i­ty as chief of staff, he will be re­lent­less­ly fo­cused on ex­e­cu­tion of the Group CEO’s strate­gic and op­er­a­tional agen­da, ANSA McAL said.

Chief strat­e­gy of­fi­cer

An­dre Jef­fers has been pro­mot­ed to the po­si­tion of chief strat­e­gy of­fi­cer of the ANSA McAL Group, ef­fec­tive Sep­tem­ber 1st, 2024. In this piv­otal role, An­dre will re­port di­rect­ly to the Group CEO and will con­tin­ue to dri­ve the group’s strate­gic vi­sion for­ward.

Hav­ing re­joined ANSA McAL two years ago as Head of Strat­e­gy & Growth, An­dre has been a key ar­chi­tect in ad­vanc­ing the 2X strate­gic agen­da. His nat­ur­al lead­er­ship in var­i­ous M&A and strate­gic ini­tia­tives has been in­stru­men­tal in pro­pelling the Group’s growth. In his new po­si­tion, An­dre will work close­ly with the ex­ec­u­tive lead­er­ship team to fur­ther shape and im­ple­ment our strate­gic ob­jec­tives, with a par­tic­u­lar em­pha­sis on growth through cap­i­tal in­vest­ments, strate­gic part­ner­ships, and M&A with­in the Caribbean re­gion and be­yond.

An­dre holds a BBA in Fi­nance (Sum­ma Cum Laude) from Howard Uni­ver­si­ty. He has worked in in­vest­ment bank­ing on Wall Street, with Lehman Broth­ers and Bar­clays Cap­i­tal and fur­ther ad­vanced his ca­reer at The Car­lyle Group as an in­vest­ment as­so­ciate. He has ad­vised on or di­rect­ly ex­e­cut­ed over US$12 bil­lion in cor­po­rate M&A and pri­vate eq­ui­ty in­vest­ments glob­al­ly, bring­ing a wealth of ex­pe­ri­ence to spear­head ANSA McAL’s growth agen­da. By es­tab­lish­ing key per­for­mance in­di­ca­tors and fos­ter­ing a cul­ture of strate­gic agili­ty, An­dre will con­tin­ue to play a crit­i­cal role in po­si­tion­ing the Group as a leader in its in­dus­try and en­sur­ing its sus­tained suc­cess.

Group ex­ter­nal af­fairs

The new pur­pose of the group cor­po­rate af­fairs unit is to safe­guard the ANSA McAL brand and ex­pand its rep­u­ta­tion glob­al­ly by ef­fec­tive­ly com­mu­ni­cat­ing and en­gag­ing all stake­hold­ers. In sup­port of this, it will be reti­tled group ex­ter­nal af­fairs. Its fo­cus will be specif­i­cal­ly on brand gov­er­nance, stake­hold­er en­gage­ment and ex­ter­nal com­mu­ni­ca­tions, strate­gic so­cial part­ner­ships and cor­po­rate sus­tain­abil­i­ty.

Ef­fec­tive im­me­di­ate­ly, the role of head of cul­ture and com­mu­ni­ca­tions will change to the head of mar­ket­ing and ex­ter­nal com­mu­ni­ca­tions. With this new fo­cus, Sarah In­gle­field will con­tin­ue to re­port to the chief le­gal and ex­ter­nal af­fairs of­fi­cer and will spear­head the ef­forts to strength­en the Group’s brand pres­ence re­gion­al­ly and in­ter­na­tion­al­ly, main­tain­ing so­ci­etal val­ue through our cor­po­rate sus­tain­abil­i­ty and on­go­ing ex­ter­nal stake­hold­er en­gage­ment, all in ser­vice of our 2X growth ob­jec­tives and in­crease stake­hold­er val­ue.

Hu­man re­sources and cul­ture

We be­lieve that a vi­brant, aligned work­place cul­ture is key to achiev­ing our strate­gic goals and en­hanc­ing our tal­ent ini­tia­tives. Amy Laz­zari, will con­tin­ue as our chief hu­man re­source of­fi­cer and will now, as­sume re­spon­si­bil­i­ty for the group’s cul­ture trans­for­ma­tion ini­tia­tives. This tran­si­tion un­der­scores ANSA McAL’s com­mit­ment to build­ing a stronger and more di­verse or­ga­ni­za­tion­al cul­ture and to build pow­er­ful lead­er­ship with a co­he­sive ap­proach to em­ploy­ee en­gage­ment, with­in the HR frame­work and busi­ness strat­e­gy.

The role will re­port to the chief shared ser­vices of­fi­cer and now as­sume re­spon­si­bil­i­ty for in­ter­nal com­mu­ni­ca­tions, while align­ing em­ploy­ee ini­tia­tives with ANSA McAL’s val­ues and busi­ness goals, ul­ti­mate­ly en­hanc­ing our Group’s over­all or­gan­i­sa­tion­al per­for­mance. The con­tin­ued well-be­ing, en­gage­ment, and de­vel­op­ment of our peo­ple and teams will be para­mount, while pro­mot­ing our core val­ues, well­ness, and em­pow­ered en­gage­ment across the or­gan­i­sa­tion. This in­cludes fos­ter­ing re­silience, agili­ty, di­ver­si­ty, and in­clu­sion, as well as dri­ving tar­get­ed pro­fes­sion­al de­vel­op­ment to sup­port our am­bi­tious 2X agen­da.

New chief shared ser­vices Of­fi­cer

We warm­ly wel­come back Fa­heem Mo­hammed to the group, as chief shared ser­vices of­fi­cer on Oc­to­ber 1st, 2024. Re­port­ing di­rect­ly to the Group CEO, this role will over­see the HR and oth­er key cor­po­rate ser­vices with the vi­sion of dri­ving ef­fi­cien­cies and best prac­tices in these ar­eas.

Fa­heem brings a wealth of ex­pe­ri­ence across var­i­ous sec­tors, in­clud­ing pol­i­cy de­vel­op­ment, busi­ness strat­e­gy, em­ploy­ee & in­dus­tri­al re­la­tions, or­ga­ni­za­tion­al de­sign, and Six Sig­ma sys­tems. With both aca­d­e­m­ic and prac­ti­cal ex­pe­ri­ence, he has suc­cess­ful­ly im­ple­ment­ed best prac­tices in mul­ti­ple coun­tries with Cari­com and across the globe. In his most re­cent role, he man­aged HR, HSE, Cor­po­rate Ser­vices func­tions at the C-suite lev­el with­in the fi­nan­cial ser­vices in­dus­try.

Fa­heem is cur­rent­ly com­plet­ing his re­search for a PhD in Busi­ness Ad­min­is­tra­tion at the Uni­ver­si­ty of the West In­dies. He al­so holds an MSc in Strate­gic Lead­er­ship and Man­age­ment and a BSc in Man­age­ment Stud­ies & Psy­chol­o­gy with ho­n­ours, from the same in­sti­tu­tion. Ad­di­tion­al­ly, he is a cer­ti­fied me­di­a­tor for Civ­il Non-Fam­i­ly mat­ters by the Me­di­a­tion Board of T&T. Out­side of work, Fa­heem is a lec­tur­er, an avid out­door trail bik­er and gym en­thu­si­ast, and pas­sion­ate about ser­vant lead­er­ship.
