The 2018 installment of the Energy Chamber's annual Energy Conference begins today at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Port-Of-Spain.
The conference will run from the 22nd January to 24th January and attract leaders from across the region in the fields of energy, government and academia.
Senior decision makers in the energy sector including the CEOs, supply chain, finance, and operations managers of the major upstream, midstream, and downstream operator companies in Trinidad and Tobago are all expected to be in attendance at the event
The conference has as its theme this year: "Maximising Value through Collaboration"
According to the Energy Chamber's Energy Conference website: "Collaboration has emerged as a key theme in the global oil and gas industry, as companies struggle to reduce costs in a continuing low price environment. In the Caribbean’s leading oil and gas economy of Trinidad & Tobago, the theme of collaboration came to the fore at the 2017 Energy Conference."
The 2017 event attracted over 1400 visitors across the three days of the conference.
Delegates from the UK, United States, Guyana, Suriname, Venezuela, China, Barbados, Dominican Republic and the Falklands are all expected to participate during the three day event.
Commenting further on the activities of this year's event, the Chamber said: "The 2018 conference will feature keynote speeches and discussion panels that will highlight the issue of collaboration among different stakeholders with the objective of maximising value from hydrocarbon resources in the Caribbean region."
Pointing out the significance of the energy sector to T&T's economy, the Chamber stated: "What is clear is that the energy sector will continue to fuel the country’s growth and prosperity over the next few decades and mapping out a way to ensure sustained development amidst an ever changing global environment is pivotal. The sector is at a crucial juncture where it must evolve in order to continue being competitive given green economy policy development"
