The KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has extended its planned flight schedule to October, interim CEO of Tourism Trinidad Ltd Carla Cupid has said.

“Tourism Trinidad Ltd felt it was very important to be at this year’s Vakantiebeurs because of the KLM flight that is coming from Amsterdam to PoS,” Cupid stated.

“We were able to really strengthen that connection between TTL, and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, and because the airline is coming into PoS three times per week what we felt we needed to do is to meet with them. They will be flying into PoS until October 2023 so they are here for the summer,” she said.

The airline currently flies three to times weekly to Trinidad via Barbados, with direct flight from Trinidad to Amsterdam.

KLM had previously planned to continue this service until March but a Tourism Trinidad team met with the airline’s official at Vakantiebeurs 2023 Tourism Trade Show in the Netherlands last week.

Cupid said T&T now has an even greater opportunity to bring more people from the Benelux region (Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg) and the wider Western European region to T&T’s shores.

“So I think that is a big win coming out of this,” Cupid said.

“Another big win coming out of this is that where we were not on the landscape or even in the minds of the Dutch travelling public, the vacationing Dutch travelling public we were able to now start to build that foundation,” Cupid said.

“So by keeping in touch with them, by engaging with them, what we are doing is really piquing their interest so we have a lot of persons who are interested in how they could access packages and that will really bring a lot of benefits to tour operators and travel agents back home who want to sell the experiences that Trinidad has to offer,” she said.
