Heritage Petroleum Company Ltd has recorded a significant offshore production success, with its latest well in the Trinmar North (TNA) acreage delivering test rates exceeding 800 barrels of oil per day, 26 per cent above its forecast initial production rate.
In a news release yesterday, the company said the S-946 well, targeting the Cruse A/B reservoir, was expected to produce an initial 635 barrels per day. However, drilling results exceeded expectations, with approximately 375 feet of net oil sand encountered.
The well was spudded in April 2026 and brought into production in August, initially producing approximately 330 barrels per day. Following startup optimisation, production performance improved significantly, with current test rates exceeding 800 barrels per day.
The results provide a boost for Heritage’s offshore operations and reinforce the potential of its TNA acreage as the state-owned energy company seeks to maximise production from existing hydrocarbon resources.
Heritage described the S-946 results as evidence of the quality of the Cruse A/B reservoir and the effectiveness of its subsurface development strategy.
The well’s performance also demonstrates the value of targeted drilling, reservoir management and production optimisation in extracting additional value from T&T’s mature oil and gas assets.
The difference between the forecast initial rate of 635 barrels per day and current test rates exceeding 800 barrels represents an encouraging result, the company said. The well’s initial August production rate of approximately 330 barrels per day has also more than doubled following optimisation activities.
The results are particularly important as T&T continues to focus on reversing declining hydrocarbon production and maximising output from its existing fields.
Offshore development remains an important part of the country’s efforts to sustain crude oil production, support energy sector activity and generate revenue.
Heritage has been pursuing a strategy centred on improving recovery from its assets through drilling, well interventions and better reservoir management.
The S-946 results add to the company’s efforts to unlock additional production from its offshore portfolio, while demonstrating the importance of execution and technical optimisation in achieving stronger returns from existing acreage.
The Cruse A/B reservoir’s performance will also be of interest as Heritage assesses the wider potential of the TNA acreage and opportunities for further development.
For the state-owned producer, the challenge will be sustaining the improved performance and translating the encouraging test results into lasting production gains.
Heritage maintains that its focus remains on operational excellence, reservoir optimisation and maximising value from T&T’s hydrocarbon resources.
