Cana­di­an busi­ness process out­sourc­ing (BPO) provider Sin­gle­Point Group In­ter­na­tion­al Inc. (Sin­gle­Point GI), has ex­pand­ed its op­er­a­tions in T&T.

In a news re­lease yes­ter­day, Sin­gle­Point con­firmed it has in­vest­ed an ad­di­tion­al TT$1.1 mil­lion as well as hir­ing 11 new em­ploy­ees.

The com­pa­ny said this brought its to­tal in­vest­ment in the coun­try to TT$5.1 mil­lion since it com­menced op­er­a­tions with 75 em­ploy­ees in Long­denville, Ch­agua­nas, in Sep­tem­ber 2025, as part of a strate­gic re­lo­ca­tion from the Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic.

That move, the com­pa­ny said, was dri­ven by the com­pa­ny’s ob­jec­tive to es­tab­lish a nearshore pres­ence that would bet­ter serve its North Amer­i­can client base.

Sin­gle­Point ex­plained the ini­tial in­vest­ment of TT$4 mil­lion cov­ered fa­cil­i­ty set-up, em­ploy­ee re­cruit­ment and train­ing, salaries, and first-year op­er­a­tional ex­pens­es.

“We se­lect­ed Trinidad and To­ba­go pri­mar­i­ly be­cause of its high­ly ed­u­cat­ed, na­tive Eng­lish-speak­ing work­force and its con­ve­nient prox­im­i­ty to our North Amer­i­can clients, with di­rect flight con­nec­tions read­i­ly avail­able,” says Matthew Jarvis, se­nior vice pres­i­dent, Glob­al Op­er­a­tions of Sin­gle­Point GI.

“Com­pared with oth­er mar­kets we eval­u­at­ed, Trinidad and To­ba­go of­fered the right com­bi­na­tion of tal­ent, ac­ces­si­bil­i­ty and busi­ness po­ten­tial, mak­ing it the ide­al lo­ca­tion for our ex­pan­sion,” said Jarvis.

CEO of Glob­alTT, Sek­ou Al­leyne, not­ed the broad­er im­pact of BPO in­vest­ments on the na­tion­al econ­o­my.

“We re­main com­mit­ted to dri­ving the growth of Trinidad and To­ba­go’s BPO sec­tor be­cause of its proven con­tri­bu­tion to eco­nom­ic de­vel­op­ment and work­force ad­vance­ment,” says Al­leyne. “These in­vest­ments con­tribute to na­tion­al de­vel­op­ment through the ini­tial set­up costs as well as 100 per cent forex earn­ings dur­ing the sub­se­quent op­er­a­tions. They form part of a broad­er strat­e­gy to sig­nif­i­cant­ly in­crease the con­tri­bu­tion of ser­vices ex­ports to our econ­o­my while cre­at­ing mean­ing­ful em­ploy­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties and a sub­stan­tive ca­reer path for young peo­ple. Since 2015, Glob­al Trinidad and To­ba­go has fa­cil­i­tat­ed the es­tab­lish­ment of 11 for­eign BPO com­pa­nies, which are col­lec­tive­ly pro­ject­ed to gen­er­ate more than 4,000 jobs by the end of 2026.”

The re­lease said that fol­low­ing a strate­gic part­ner­ship with Nearshore Tele­ser­vices—an­oth­er BPO com­pa­ny fa­cil­i­tat­ed by Glob­alTT in 2023—Sin­gle Point GI cur­rent­ly op­er­ates from Nearshore Tele­ser­vices’ fa­cil­i­ty and em­ploys ap­prox­i­mate­ly 86 staff mem­bers. The com­pa­ny plans to ex­pand its work­force to 150 em­ploy­ees by the end of 2026.

Sin­gle Point GI’s ex­pan­sion in T&T was hailed as a pos­i­tive sign for the coun­try’s grow­ing rep­u­ta­tion as a com­pet­i­tive nearshore des­ti­na­tion for in­ter­na­tion­al busi­ness ser­vices and re­in­forces the coun­try’s at­trac­tive­ness as an in­vest­ment lo­ca­tion for com­pa­nies seek­ing ac­cess to skilled tal­ent and strate­gic mar­ket con­nec­tiv­i­ty.

The re­lease point­ed out that Port of Spain was ranked #5 out of 10 best BPO des­ti­na­tions in LATAM & the Caribbean on the Nearshore Val­ue In­dex in 2024.
