Mary Could Dance returns tonight

It is the most-award­ed play ever in the his­to­ry of T&T, win­ning ten awards out of 15, a record which stands up to to­day.

The play is Mary Could Dance, writ­ten by Richard Ra­goo­bars­ingh and di­rect­ed by re­cent­ly passed the­atre icon Ray­mond Choo Kong.

The play is con­sid­ered to be an icon­ic piece of the­atre that has played to au­di­ences not on­ly in T&T but across the Caribbean for over20 years.

Mary Could Dance is loved by thou­sands of pa­trons and con­sid­ered by many to be the best play ever out of T&T and it is back for an ex­clu­sive few per­for­mances in trib­ute to Choo Kong who had loved the play.

The orig­i­nal cast has agreed to a few per­for­mances and as such there will be a se­lect­ed few shows so pa­trons will have a lim­it­ed op­por­tu­ni­ty to see the play.

Mary Could Dance will be staged tonight at the Na­tion­al Acad­e­my for the Per­form­ing Arts (Na­pa), Port-of-Spain, with a re­peat stag­ing to­mor­row evening.

Mary Could Dance is cho­sen be­cause it is cur­rent­ly the bench­mark of ex­cel­lence in lo­cal the­atre and holds the record for most awards ever won by a sin­gle pro­duc­tion (ten), in­clud­ing Best Ac­tress, Best Di­rec­tor, Best Sound, Best Light­ing, Best Chore­og­ra­phy, Best Script, Best Sup­port­ing Ac­tor, Best Sup­port­ing Ac­tress, Best Set and Best Pro­duc­tion.

The cast in­clude such tal­ents as Pene­lope Spencer, Glenn Davis, Ce­cil­ia Salazar, Roger Dick­ie , Dionne Mc Nichol and Richard Ra­goo­bars­ingh.

Mary Could Dance fea­tures every­thing, from ex­ot­ic danc­ing and HIV/Aids to cat fights, to ro­mance, to the an­tics of the scan­dalous pimp/bar own­er Mule.

As the num­ber one play of T&T, it takes you on a jour­ney and a night of the­atre that you will nev­er for­get.
